In past years, there has been a sudden increase of HIV-AIDS cases in the Philippines, most of which was through male-to-male sex.  The Department of Health has already declared an AIDS epidemic outbreak in the Philippines including Cagayan de Oro City.

For the first time in decades, the HIV-AIDS case in Cagayan de Oro City has reached double digits.  Here are the full statistics in the past years:

2008 - 6 cases

2009 - 9 cases

2010 - 14 cases
 2011 - 27 cases
2012 - 52 cases

Based on the statistics, the rate of the viral infection is at One Hundred (100%) percent annually.  If we follow this trend, in 2013, the HIV-AIDS cases in the city will reach the 100 mark. 

If you are from Cagayan de Oro City, call the AIDS Hotline number (8822-area code) 72-1189.  This is a service by the City Health Office of Cagayan  de Oro.  They will entertain your questions without malice.  If they do insult or embarrass you in anyway, call the attention of the City Health Officers and report such incident.  These people are supposed to assist you in anyway.

Updates on Masseur Swindler in CDO

Someone complained that this guy is swindling gay people online.  He claims to be a masseur offering sensual massage.  According to the complainant, he carries a gun and uses it to threaten his victims.  He even claims to be an employee of Southern Arms, a gun supplier in Cagayan de Oro City and manages VV Security Agency. 

Considering that there is already an election gun ban, he is asking for more trouble.  If you have been a victim of this person, please report this incident to the police.  Mention the gun in your complaint

Gay American, possibly with AIDS dies in CDO

Last Thursday, ABS CBN Northern Mindanao reported that a 64 year old gay American died in Cagayan de Oro.  There are suspicions that he died due to AIDS complication.  The City Health Department is still trying to determine this. The American had a Filipino lover in Cagayan de Oro.

If indeed the American died due to AIDS, the City Health would not release any information about this.  Be reminded that we have an HIV AIDS Law in the Philippines that protect the privacy of the infected person.

Again my advise to everyone, PLEASE protect yourselves from unsafe sex practices!

Masseur swindler in PlanetRomeo

Here we go again.  Another gay swindler in Planet Romeo.  This time a guy pretending to be a masseur.  I have already noticed him posting his profile and services in Planet Romeo before.  Good thing I was able to save his photo.

According to the information I received, this guy gives a very lousy massage, in short he is not a trained masseur.  He brings a gun with him, threatening his customer and claims to be an employee of Southern Arms, a gun store in Cagayan de Oro City.  Southern Arms also owns VV Security Agency.

Beware of guys advertising online that they are masseurs, much more if they do not have photos.  Mga walay klaro na sila!

Rick Lo's interview with Anne Hathaway

Ricky Lo, a veteran showbiz journalist in the country interviewed Anne Hathaway for the Les Miserables movie. Unfortunately it did not end well.

Ricky Lo should remember that Americans are different from Filipinos.  If you ask a Filipino celebrity a stupid or insulting question, they would simply smile and be polite but if you do this to an American, you will get what you deserve...on your face!

Australia study points to potential cure for AIDS

An Australian scientist said he had discovered how to turn the HIV virus against itself to stop it progressing to AIDS, describing it as a major breakthrough in finding a cure for the disease.

You would still be infected with HIV, it's not a cure for the virus, but the virus would stay latent, it wouldn't wake up, so it wouldn't develop into AIDS.

Tips to Avoid Getting Swindled in CDO

There have been incidents of robbery or fraud in Cagayan de Oro involving gay people.

To avoid getting swindled or robbed, here are some advise or tips to follow :

1. When meeting someone online, check their Facebook account or if not see each other through webcam. Today, most people have Facebook or webcams, so if that person does not have one, that is a warning sign.

2. If the person you meet online wants to meet with you immediately in your hotel room or apartment, that is a warning sign. Meet this person first in a public area or through webcam. If you do not like the person you are meeting, you can make an excuse and leave the place or simply turn off the webcam. 

3. If you bring these strangers to your hotel room or apartment/home, make sure the hotel has a CCTV camera and the guy should register or surrender an ID to the hotel receptionist. Better yet, leave your valuables with the hotel receptionist for safe keeping and instruct them never to give it to anyone except you. Take a photo of the guy using your phone and send it to friends. If at home, make sure someone is at home to assist you in case of emergencies. 

4. Gay swindlers are now in social networking sites.  If the profile photo is not the same with the actual person you meet, that is a warning sign.  Make an excuse and leave immediately.  Do not anymore entertain them.

5. If someone asks you for a night out with his so called "friends and cousins", that is a warning sign. You might end up paying all of the drinks and even more. Sometimes you go out in a date, only to find out that his "cousin" will join you later. If this happens, make an excuse and leave!  These swindlers sometimes operate in pairs or groups.

6. When in a motel, if the guy insists that you take a shower first, this is a warning sign. This is an opportunity for these swindlers to take your belongings and even your clothes.  If you shower, take your clothes with you inside the bathroom and lock the door. 


7.  If you meet someone new and that guy wants to have sex with you, ask that person, are you a call boy?  Some of these guys would not tell you that they are call boys.  After sex they would suddenly ask money from you, even though you have not talked about it.

8.  If a gay swindler threatens you that he will create a scene or "mag eskandalo" if you do not give your belongings, you should reply....GO AHEAD! PAG ESKANDALO.  These swindlers are just bluffing.  They do not really want to create a scene or else they will get involved in it and  their identity exposed.

Condom Law in Los Angeles, USA

The Condom Law recently voted in Los Angeles, California requires porn actors to wear condoms during sex scenes.  This is in response to the growing concern of HIV infection.

Not all are happy about this law.  Porn producers are complaining that this law is violating their constitutional rights and is an added financial burden to the industry.  It can hurt their business and drive away investments to other countries without condom restrictions.  California is home to a multi-billion dollar adult industry.

Coming out

Telling someone that you are gay (coming out) is challenging.  You simply do not know how people would react to your announcement.  Would they be happy for you or would they turn their backs against you?

Each one of us has different circumstances.  Some are lucky enough, like me, to have supportive friends and family members who would accept you for who you are, while others are not that fortunate.

Whatever is your situation, tell your friends, tell your family members that you are gay.  They should love you for who you are not what you are.

Film : The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

This movie brings back memories.  I think this was the first gay movie I watched in a cinema.  It was shown here in the Philippines but for a very short time.

The Adventures of Priscilla is a gay Australian film about two drag queens and a transgender on a road trip across the Australian desert.  The main actors in this film made it big in Hollywood.  Could you spot them?  And the Filipina cursing in Tagalog is just plain hilarious! LOL

A Canadian film made way back 2005.  Its a soft porn straight film (man and woman).  Soft porn in a sense that there is frontal nudity and explicit acts but it does not focus of the genitalia.   The male actor is Eric Balfour who starred in the sci-fi movie "Skyline" and tv action series "24".

I love gay short films, it is direct and has more substance than full featured films.  No more lengthy dramatics or whatever.  Most of them are made in Europe or Latin America and does not use the English language.  Luckily there are English sub-titles.

I know of someone whose boyfriend hijacked his Facebook account and started sending messages to all his friends and investigated them like they were suspects.  Grabe kaayo.  I was shocked what his boyfriend did.  It was an invasion of his privacy.  His boyfriend was becoming a psychopath, buang na giyud.  These are the type of people when you break up with them, they will not accept defeat and will follow you like a shadow.  Magbantay mo aning klase nga tao kay basin naay plano nga daotan himoon niya sa imo.

A relationship is based on trust.  If you do not trust your boyfriend enough then there is something wrong.  Try to communicate, talk with each other, and gain each others trust.  If nothing works, then it is time to say goodbye.

New Years Resolution?

I am getting tired of making new years resolution.  Most if not all the time it does not happen.  I usually make 3 new years resolution but I guess this year I will make one and really make it happen.  What is my new years resolution in 2013?
