No internet connection

I am currently applying for a new internet provider.  I thought it would take a few days to get connected but I was told it would take WEEKS instead.  I might have difficulty uploading videos and stuff online.  Please bear with me.

2 Pinoys working in UAE were arrested and sentenced to one month jail for cross-dressing in public.

One would argue that these two Filipinos has the right to express themselves in public.  That they can dress whatever they want.  Yes they can do that in the Philippines but probably not in other countries.  We must also consider laws of other countries.

Even though UAE is a moderate Islamic country, it still follows Islamic beliefs and traditions.  Homosexuality is not totally accepted in Islamic countries and one must be cautious not to offend Muslims especially if you are just a visitor or an OFW.

Always remember the saying, "When in Rome, Do what the Romans do".

Chinese phone with preloaded spyware

According to the Yahoo News article, a German security company recently discovered a Chinese made phone preloaded with spyware.

The spyware can allow a hacker to steal personal data, make calls and worst of all turn on your phone camera and microphone.  Yes, the hacker can see and hear what you are doing through your phone.

This is one reason why the United States is technically banning the use of Chinese made phones especially in government facilities.

The phone was sold online in China but there are no information about the manufacturer.

If you think China is only doing it....think again.  The United States has also been accused of phone tapping and spying in recent years.

Tourist body found after rafting incident in CDO

After days of searching, the body of a local tourist was found after she fell off the raft while whitewater rafting along CDO River.

Our condolences to the family of the tourist.

This is a big blow to the tourism industry of Cagayan de Oro which relies on whitewater rafting.

OFW offered 583k Pesos to drop sexual assault charges

A Filipino OFW was offered money around 583,000 Pesos by a Saudi police officer to drop sexual assault charges against him.  The Saudi police officer apparently sexually assaulted the Pinoy OFW who has a wife and kids.

As to what type of sexual assault or act was done, it was not stated in the news article.

This is a problem to most male OFW's in Saudi and the Middle East.  They get sexually assaulted by Arabs especially if they look so "feminine" or hairless.

If you want to avoid being assaulted sexually in the Middle East, grow some beard and dress appropriately.

I do not have internet access for the past days.   According to my internet provider, they have a problem with their fiber optics.  So do not be surprised if there is not much blog activity for the next few days.  I am currently using WiFi access courtesy of a coffee shop here in CDO.
