Pope says he won't judge gay priests

Pope Francis after his trip to Brazil tried to reach out to gay priests in the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis said : "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"

This is in contrast to Pope Benedict XVI who was against gay priests.

CDO Bomb Blast

A bomb exploded last night at Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center killing at least 6 people and injuring several people.

Killed were doctors and med reps who were in CDO for a convention.   Among the killed was Provincial Board Member Lagbas.

I have never expected this to happen in a city known to be immune to the problems of Mindanao.  This will greatly affect the reputation of CDO in the years to come.

A Baby Boy for Prince William and Dutchess Kate

Great Britain legalizes Gay Marriage

Great Britain finally legalized gay marriage after Queen Elizabeth II gave her royal assent.   There are still  some issues to resolve and it is expected that the first gay marriage in Britain would happened by 2014.

The most recent country that legalized gay marriage was France.  Other countries include Netherlands, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, Argentina, Denmark, Uruguay, Belgium, and New Zealand. 

Gay couples can marry in 13 US states, as well as in the capital Washington DC, while parts of Mexico also allow same-sex marriage.

HIV AIDS in Cagayan de Oro City

In past years, there has been a sudden increase of HIV-AIDS cases in the Philippines, most of which was through male-to-male sex.  The Department of Health has already declared an AIDS epidemic outbreak in the Philippines including Cagayan de Oro City.

For the first time in decades, the HIV-AIDS case in Cagayan de Oro City has reached double digits.  Here are the full statistics in the past years:

2008 - 6 cases

2009 - 9 cases

2010 - 14 cases
 2011 - 27 cases
2012 - 52 cases

Based on the statistics, the rate of the viral infection is at One Hundred (100%) percent annually.  If we follow this trend, in 2013, the HIV-AIDS cases in the city will reach the 100 mark. 

If you are from Cagayan de Oro City, call the AIDS Hotline number (8822-area code) 72-1189.  This is a service by the City Health Office of Cagayan  de Oro.  They will entertain your questions without malice.  If they do insult or embarrass you in anyway, call the attention of the City Health Officers and report such incident.  These people are supposed to assist you in anyway.

Tips to Avoid Getting Swindled in CDO

There have been incidents of robbery or fraud in Cagayan de Oro involving gay people.

To avoid getting swindled or robbed, here are some advise or tips to follow :

1. When meeting someone online, check their Facebook account or if not see each other through webcam. Today, most people have Facebook or webcams, so if that person does not have one, that is a warning sign.

2. If the person you meet online wants to meet with you immediately in your hotel room or apartment, that is a warning sign. Meet this person first in a public area or through webcam. If you do not like the person you are meeting, you can make an excuse and leave the place or simply turn off the webcam. 

3. If you bring these strangers to your hotel room or apartment/home, make sure the hotel has a CCTV camera and the guy should register or surrender an ID to the hotel receptionist. Better yet, leave your valuables with the hotel receptionist for safe keeping and instruct them never to give it to anyone except you. Take a photo of the guy using your phone and send it to friends. If at home, make sure someone is at home to assist you in case of emergencies. 

4. Gay swindlers are now in social networking sites.  If the profile photo is not the same with the actual person you meet, that is a warning sign.  Make an excuse and leave immediately.  Do not anymore entertain them.

5. If someone asks you for a night out with his so called "friends and cousins", that is a warning sign. You might end up paying all of the drinks and even more. Sometimes you go out in a date, only to find out that his "cousin" will join you later. If this happens, make an excuse and leave!  These swindlers sometimes operate in pairs or groups.

6. When in a motel, if the guy insists that you take a shower first, this is a warning sign. This is an opportunity for these swindlers to take your belongings and even your clothes.  If you shower, take your clothes with you inside the bathroom and lock the door. 


7.  If you meet someone new and that guy wants to have sex with you, ask that person, are you a call boy?  Some of these guys would not tell you that they are call boys.  After sex they would suddenly ask money from you, even though you have not talked about it.

8.  If a gay swindler threatens you that he will create a scene or "mag eskandalo" if you do not give your belongings, you should reply....GO AHEAD! PAG ESKANDALO.  These swindlers are just bluffing.  They do not really want to create a scene or else they will get involved in it and  their identity exposed.

Cory Monteith of Glee found dead in Canada

Sad sad news.  Cory Monteith who played Finn Hudson in Glee was found dead in his hotel room in Canada.

Police and paramedics ruled out foul play in his death.  However it has been known before that he battled addiction or substance abuse.

When I first heard about it, I told my friend to search it online coz it might be a prank or joke but it is no joke.  Cory Monteith is really dead.  I could not imagine how Glee would deal with this situation as he is one of the main characters of the show.

Finn Hudson we will miss you.  May you rest in peace.

Film : Brokeback Mountain

When Brokeback Mountain was released in 2005, it was according to Oprah "revolutionary".  It won several film awards including the Oscars.

The cinematography of the movie was pretty amazing, the film score was the best and the actors gave life to the characters.  To the surprise of many the film was directed by Ang Lee who also directed movies like the Hulk, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and most recently the Life of Pi.

This version has an English subtitle which is helpful to people who have hearing issues.

A 51 year old gay guy was caught in Cagayan de Oro with fake Peso paper bills worth around 200,000 Pesos.  The Police also confiscated printing materials.
