High AIDS infection in the Philippines

AIDS infection and deaths in the world has already slowed down according to an international AIDS conference recently held in Australia.  

However it is a different story for the Philippines including Indonesia and Pakistan.  These countries were identified as the only 3 countries in the world with high AIDS infection for the year 2013.

The Philippine AIDS situation is getting worst.  The president of the AIDS Society in the Philippines has declared that the Philippines may be the next Africa.  Africa right now has the highest AIDS infection in the world and is considered as the main source of the infection.

We in the LGBT community must do our share in fighting HIV AIDS.   If we do not do anything about this, we will soon find ourselves grieving for our friends and even possibly a family member.

As I keep on saying for the past years and even decade, ALWAYS be responsible for yourself and others!  Practice safe or safer sex and use a condom!

Eid Mubarak to all of the Muslims around the world.  Today is Eid ul-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting.   However the holiday is tomorrow on Tuesday.

Philippine TV show host, Paolo Bediones is currently the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.  A video of Paolo Bediones having sex with an unknown woman is currently circulating online.  I have seen the video and I can confirm 100% that it is Paolo Bediones.  There is no doubt about it.

After so many sex video scandals that has rocked the Philippine showbiz industry one would think these showbiz personalities would stop making sex videos.  I guess they have not learned anything from the past.

As much as I want to share the video, it is illegal to do so.  Under Republic Act 9995 known as the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, reproducing or distribution of such material is illegal and punishable by law.  Sorry guys....but I can assure you that Paolo Bediones is an Asian stud! hehehehehehe ;)

Legalized prostitution to stop the spread of AIDS?

AIDS experts during an AIDS conference recently held in Australia suggested that legalizing prostitution could stop the spread of HIV AIDS.

If prostitution is legalized and recognized by government, prostitutes can avail of government services and demand rights to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections.  A prostitute can demand from a client to use a condom and refuse if he does not.

However womens group raised the issue that women prostitutes are always at a disadvantage in such situations.  They are easily manipulated and abused.  This has also some moral implications especially in Philippines which is a Christian country.

One year on after CDO bombing

Today we commemorate the 1 year anniversary of the Limketkai bombing that left several people dead and injured.

A month ago, Limketkai Mall demolished the Rosario Arcade building, site of the bombing.

To this day the suspected bomber has not been arrested or properly identified.

 

Facial Care

For gay men, it is important to take good care of your face.  You might ask, when do I start taking care of my face?  Immediately!  Start early especially during puberty.

Pimples or acne is the greatest enemy of all and it usually starts during puberty.  What one should do first is start washing your face with soap especially designed for the face, in short a facial wash.  Decades ago you could not find a men's facial wash.  You had to buy the ladies facial wash.  Now there is an array of men's facial wash in the market.  However not all is suitable to your face.  You have to experiment which facial wash works with your face.  Expensive facial wash does not mean it will work for you.   Based on my experience I had to go through several facial wash before I found one that suited my face.

Wash your face with facial wash at least twice a day.  One in the morning and one at night before sleeping.  You have to remove dirt and excess oil on your skin which causes the pimple outbreak.  However pimple outbreaks can also be due to stress, food allergies and others factors.

After washing your face, you can then use a cleanser to remove stubborn dirt on your skin.  Pour the cleanser on a cotton ball and rub moderately around the face especially the T zones where the skin produces more oil.

After a cleanser, some usually apply a toner but for me, a simple facial wash would be sufficient especially if you are the type of person on the go most of the time.

Then the next step is to moisturize your face with a non-greasy formulation.  During washing and cleansing, your natural facial oils are stripped off.  This has to replenish with moisturizers.  This will give a good glow to your face.

Black screen saves energy

I have made changes to the blog font and color scheme.  I want the blog to look dark and sleek.  I also heard that a black background or screen saves energy.  In fact the new Samsung Galaxy S5 phone has this battery saving mode that makes the screen go black and white (gray) to extend battery life.  Not sure if this applies to LCD or other screens.  Anyway lets do our part in saving energy.

Pinoy Big Brother housemate admits being bisexual

Fifth Pagotan recently admitted to his fellow housemates that he is a bisexual. He was somehow forced to open up due to a negative comment from a viewer of the show.

Fifth is also accompanied by his twin brother known as Fourth.

HIV AIDS gone by 2030?

The World Heath Organization (WHO) said that HIV AIDS could be wiped out by 2030 if the world moves fast and put in place measures to prevent the disease from further spreading.

HIV AIDS infections and deaths have been dropping dramatically due to new medicines and intensive information drive.

However HIV AIDS is still prevalent in African countries and parts of Asia due to discrimination and lack of information.

In the Philippines, HIV AIDS is still on the rise.

Wow, it just hit me that within this week over a million people would have viewed this blog since 2011.

Hmmmm there should be some changes to the blog to commemorate this event.

I am really sorry for not updating the blog for the past weeks.  Aside from my problem with the internet (changed internet provider), I have been so busy lately.

Anyway thanks for supporting my blog!

Sad state of the spa industry in CDO

The first time spas opened in Cagayan de Oro, the standards were quite high.  You would not be embarrassed to bring a friend from Manila or a foreigner to any of the spas.  Now, you have to be careful.

I could remember years ago, the receptionist would ask for your name and after each massage they would ask you to fill up a card to evaluate or rate the spa and the therapist.  Now, no one cares about customer service.   

It used to be that every time the massage ends, the therapist would offer water or tea.  Now, there is nothing.  Sometimes they do not offer hot towels.

Before you could choose the scent of the body oil for the massage, like Jasmine or Peppermint.  Now, it is just plain oil that smells like medicine.

One hour and a half was the standard length of time for a massage before.  Now it is just one hour and sometimes even less.

Worst of all, spas in CDO are hiring incompetent therapists.  One spa hired a therapist who was fired from his previous job for various offenses.  Don't these spas require background checks or certifications from previous employer?  These therapists should not have not been allowed to work anymore.


I am still hopeful of the spa industry in CDO but if these spa owners prioritize profits over service, then we will have a problem in the years to come.

Man of Himologan Candidates 2014

Man of Himologan is Cagayan de Oro's official male pageant.  It is recognized by City Hall and the Department of Tourism and has become an annual pageant usually held on August, near CDO's fiesta.
