Pope says he won't judge gay priests

Pope Francis after his trip to Brazil tried to reach out to gay priests in the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis said : "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"

This is in contrast to Pope Benedict XVI who was against gay priests.

Gay Catholic Priests

The issues of gay priest molestation around the world has hounded the Catholic Church for decades.  It has damaged the church image and its relationship with its followers.

Personally, I do not have an issue with gays becoming Catholic priests or a religious leader.  I even know of a gay priest from Cagayan de Oro.  For me, what is really important is the commitment of that person to do his job well, to fulfill his calling.

That is why I want to remind gay priests NOT to drag the name of the church and the gay community with their stupidity.  At the end of the day, it gives gay people a bad name even though there are also straight priests who go into relationships with women.
