It seems a lot of Filipinos have forgotten their elementary and highschool lessons. Here are 3 things you should know about earthquakes.
1. No one can predict an earthquake. We can only make assumptions based on historical facts and scientific data but we can not do exact predictions.
2. The Philippines is located along the so called "Ring of Fire". The earth is composed of ground plates (tectonic plates) that are practically moving and floating. As the ground moves it creates friction and cause earthquakes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_of_Fire
3. Since we can not predict earthquakes but we know it will happen, all we can do is prepare. Follow earthquake drills and build homes according to the building codes.
