UK pardons the gay "Father of Computing"

British mathematician Alan Turing was considered as the "Father of Modern Computing".  He was responsible for the breaking of the World War 2 German "Enigma" code that eventually hastened the end of the war against Germany.

He was sentenced in 1952 for homosexual acts which was a criminal offense in the UK until 1967.  2 years later he allegedly committed suicide.

He was recently given a posthumous pardon by Queen Elizabeth II.
