Anti-Piracy Software Drive in Cagayan de Oro

This week, the Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team (PAPT) will be conducting inspections of establishments in Cagayan de Oro City, whether they are using legitimate or pirated softwares.  Though this does not really concern me since my laptop has a genuine Windows OS and I purchased my Norton software online.  There are several softwares online in which you can download and use for free.  Here are some as suggested by other websites.

1.  Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) - is a Linux Operating System which can be downloaded and used for free.  I was quite surprised when Ubuntu-Linux was being sold in pirated software shops in Cagayan de Oro.  If it is free, I do not think you should be selling it.

2.  Avast (http://www.avast.com/index) - is an anti-virus software which is sufficient for the average user.  You can download the software for free in their website.

3.  AVG (http://www.freeavg.com/) - is another anti-virus software free for download and use.  They also have an anti-virus software for smartphones, of course for free.

4.  Libre Office (http://www.libreoffice.org/) - is an alternative to the MS Office software.  It has a complete set of softwares similar to the MS Office.  Libre Office can open existing MS Word, Powerpoint and even MS Excel files.

5.  Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) - is another alternative to MS Office software.  This is more popular and known than Libre Office.  Again Open Office has a complete set of softwares similar to the MS Office.  It can also open existing MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint and others.  You can even save the Open Office files to MS Office format.

If you have other suggestions, post your comment here.  Thanks!
