212 new HIV cases recorded in January 2012


"The Department of Health (DOH) said it has recorded 212 new cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection last January.

The DOH said January’s figure is higher by 39% compared to that of January 2011 with 152.


Most of the cases were reported in Metro Manila at 58% (123). The rest of the cases were reported in Region 4-A, Region 3, Region 11, Region 6 and Region 7.


Meanwhile, 61% (129) of the new cases affected those between the ages of 20 and 29."
