of Health has already declared an AIDS epidemic outbreak in the Philippines including Cagayan de Oro City.

Based on the statistics, the rate of the
viral infection is at Fifty (50) percent annually. If we follow this
trend, in 2012, the HIV-AIDS
cases in the city will reach close to 55 and by 2013 there will be over a
100 people in CDO with HIV-AIDS.

Where to get tested?
There are a lot of testing centers in the city. You can go to private hospitals like CDO Medical Center, Polymedic Hospital and I think Red Cross behind the Provincial Capitol also has HIV screening facilities. I am not sure how much is the cost but the last time I had HIV screening it was like 500 Pesos. I got the result within 48 hours. Of course the result was negative :) But be prepared with personal questions, they will ask you about your sexual history, how many partners and so on. Just answer the questions as honestly as you can. Do not worry, your test will be treated with strict confidentiality as mandated by the HIV-AIDS Law in the Philippines.
Since blood will already be drawn out of you, you can also ask for hepatitis screening. Just ask how much would it cost para usa nalang. Aside from HIV AIDS, hepatitis is also a common disease that can be passed on through sexual intercourse.
There seems to be growing consensus that we can decrease the AIDS pandemic by implementing HIV prevention strategies such as male circumcision, preventative medication. There are many concerns that the pill that could increase risky behaviors and lead to a drug-resistant strains of HIV.

If you gave complete contact details, they might call you up. To be safe get a regular test instead. Red Cross-Misamis Oriental has already found one donor to be positive of HIV but they could not get in touch with the person because he is using fake names.

For HIV testing, there is a so called "window period". You have to wait around 2 to 8 weeks from the time of possible exposure to get an accurate test result. Some even recommend 3 to 6 months. That is why people who are sexually active are recommended to get tested every 6 months.
There is HIV testing in CDO Medical Center, Polymedic Hospital and if I am not mistaken in the Red Cross at the back of the Capitol. Ask through phone about the test and how much. You are required to fill up some personal information about yourself. Ulaw gamay but its something you have to do.
