One can never forget the former Corso Guerlani Restobar along Gaerlan Street near Dynasty Court Hotel. At that time, it was the only restobar in CDO were gays, bisexuals and even straights mixed and mingled. Eventually it became the official hang out spot for the LGBT community of CDO. Some even joked that if you bombed Corso Guerlani, the entire gay population of CDO will be wiped out.
Going to Corso Guerlani Restobar was like a rite of passage. Once you enter the bar, you are basically shouting to the world.....I am gay! then followed by stares that would make you feel naked LOL. You see men dancing with each other, holding hands, kissing, no one really cared. It was a place of refuge. A place where you can be your true self without fear of being discriminated upon.
After Corso closed, Eleven 50 bar tried to fill in the gap but it was not the same. I could not put my finger on it but there was something different. It seems no bar could compare with Corso.
