HIV patients in CDO must be identified

Last year HIV / AIDS cases in CDO was only 14.  Now it has reached 23 and growing fast.  Here is an article I read recently in SunStar CDO

ALARMED over the 23 cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Cagayan de Oro, Councilor Juan Sia urged the local government to identify these patients, whom he called as “HIV carriers”, in order to help them.  Sia said the “HIV carriers” need not feel ashamed because the social stigma only serves as a barrier to better understand the disease.

The councilor’s statement came in reaction to the information from Misamis Oriental Cagayan de Oro Aids Network (Mocan) that there are documented 23 HIV carriers in the city and one of them is a foreigner who already left the country.
